Welcome to Lincoln County School District #2’s website! LCSD#2 is located in western Wyoming with communities in Star Valley and Cokeville. We serve approximately 2,650 students in five elementaries, two middle schools and three high schools. We continue to be one of the highest achieving districts in the state based on statewide assessments (PAWS, ACT). Our elementary schools are K-3, 4-6 in Star Valley; our middle school is 7-8 and our high schools 9-12. In Cokeville we have a K-6 elementary and a 7-12 high school.
LCSD#2’s mission statement is "Success At the Next Level". After meeting with stakeholder groups our focus points are: Student Safety, Educating the Whole Child, High Academic Achievement, Differentiated Instruction, Care About Children, Effective Communication and Respect and Tolerance. We do this by providing our students with a rigorous, relevant education. We also emphasize the important of building positive relationships.
We are in our fifth year using an alternating 4/5 day week calendar at Star Valley High School. We have been able to improve contact time between certified teachers and their students while still allowing students the opportunity to be involved in many positive extra-curricular activities. Cokeville schools also are on a four-day week calendar. They have experienced great success with this schedule. Elementary schools in Star Valley also have at least one Friday off most months so that students can attend high school activities scheduled out of district.
We are currently in the first year of implementing 1:1 for students in all of our high schools using iPads. High school staffs spent the past year researching the positive impacts on student engagement. It is not without it's challenges but we are pleased with the progress we are making.
I consider it a tremendous privilege to be the superintendent. We have wonderful students, supportive parents and a fantastic staff who is interested in doing what is best for the students of this district. We also have a very supportive school board who shares the vision of making it possible for every student to have a first-class education. Please feel free to share your feedback on any concerns or comments you may have. I can be reached at 307-885-3811 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
